How do fillers work?
At professional skin solutions we use two types of fillers – hyaluronic acid (Perlane/Restylane) and calcium hydroxyapetite (Radiesse) to fill deep and fine wrinkles and add volume to the face. These products are FDA approved and have years of a proven track record for safety, reliability and customer satisfaction around the world.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring chemical in the skin that holds moisture in the skin to make it smooth and wrinkle-free. Perlane, and Restylane are a safe synthetic hyaluronic acid used to fill in wrinkles and lines. They work exceptionally well to enhance lips and fill wrinkles around the mouth. These fillers last about 6 months and are a great product if you are new to fillers and want to try it without feeling like you have made a permanent change.
Radiesse is a “biphasic” filler, which means it acts in 2 stages – first as a filler and then as a natural collagen generator. Tiny natural calcium microspheres and filler gel are injected to replace cheek volume and “lift” the face and fill in lines and wrinkles. As the gel is absorbed over several months, the natural calcium attracts you own collagen-making cells, called fibroblasts, and as they replace the collagen you lost, the collagen attaches to the calcium. Then, your body absorbs the calcium and you have your own natural collagen providing a youthful appearace to your face!
Results last longer that hyaluranic acid fillers, generally about 12 months.
Unlike collagen injections, no allergy testing is required and allergic reactions are almost unheard of. The filler lasts from 6-12 months, depending on the individual. We use state of the art techniques including topical pain reliever ointment and nerve blocks to eliminate pain. We make your experience as comfortable as possible!
